This is such a universal concept it seems ridiculous to try to talk about it at all. But it applies to everything I ever talk or write about.
Sometimes you (and I) just don’t want to work on our Work. And I know sometimes my clients just don’t want to work on their Injuries. And I know some days my students could give a rip about keeping their feet square during seated stretches.
When we’re in this ebb tide, we just wish everyone – our practitioner, our teacher, our boss, ourself – would just shut it and stop nagging! That’s natural. We all have ebb tides. If we didn’t, life would be a total monotone. And that would be so totally SNORE!!
We need the ebb tides just as much as we need the rushing flow of high tides. In fact, as my friend Tina says, “Non-work as you know
is crucial for work that’s inspired.” I couldn’t agree more.
Of course, actually trusting the ebbs in my practice and work is something I struggle with a lot . . . but that’s another post for another day.
